En Route

I loved how the clouds looked on my way back to work after feeding Kayla at lunch today. I tried to capture their beauty with my phone while still watching the road and it didn't work too well...but it's not an awful picture. The raindrops on the windshield look cool...

A Change in Perspective

For the past month all I've seen out my office window has been fog, fog and more fog. There was one day I couldn't even see the church, which is half a block away. Today, though, the sun came out and it surprised us all...unfortunately it came out just before sundown and was therefore only around for a few minutes before sinking below the horizon. This was the view out my office window before that happened.

Bloody Weather...

Today it couldn't make up its mind. Here the sun emerges from the fog...after it rained all night. And this is out the back door. Out the living room window it was grey and dreary...and still foggy. I was so confused! Not long after this the sun went away and the wind picked up. It blew the fog away, but it's been windy ever since.

Wonderland

It snowed. This was the view outside my office window today. It's grey and dreary, and I'm okay with that. Because the nativity is over, my Christmas shopping is done, and now I can relax and enjoy the Christmas season. First on the list: Relaxing by the fire in the light of the tree, playing with my daughter and chatting with my husband. Ahhhh...this is the life!

Fall is Coming

This morning Kayla woke up at 6:10. I fed her and she fell asleep afterward, so I put her back in her crib. She actually slept for about 10 minutes, and then woke up, but actually laid there in silence, looking around and happy, for close to 15 minutes. Once she was tired of being there, I changed her diaper, dressed her, and then went out to find out who else was awake. My dad was sitting on the porch in the morning breeze (by this time it was about 7:30), so I wrapped Kayla in a blanket and joined him. A bit later, Ruth came out and we decided it was chilly enough that we wanted some hot chocolate. So Ruth made us some. Yes, that's right. Hot chocolate in August. It was awesome!

Eventually my mom joined us, and she made some hilarious faces when Ruth pointed the camera at her. Below is my favourite shot. It's such a great picture. Even if my mother doesn't agree. :)

Love you, Mom!

Brewing Up Some Storms

I love this time of year! The clouds are so awesome to watch - they're constantly changing, and they are very different from the clouds that appear any other time of year. During the winter the cloud is the sky. It's just one big gigantic cloud that doesn't lift for more than about a day at a time between November and February. The fall clouds are cold and very unfriendly, and just look ominous and aloof. Summer clouds...wait. Do we even HAVE clouds in the summer? Not often...but when we do, they're thunderheads, billowing on the horizon, looking majestic and powerful. Spring clouds, though...they're happy clouds. They're on vacation, watching the world come back to life and enjoying the flowers so much that sometimes they part to let the sun show them brighter, and other times noticing they need a little lift, and dumping some rain. I love this time of year!
