En Route

I loved how the clouds looked on my way back to work after feeding Kayla at lunch today. I tried to capture their beauty with my phone while still watching the road and it didn't work too well...but it's not an awful picture. The raindrops on the windshield look cool...

Bloody Weather...

Today it couldn't make up its mind. Here the sun emerges from the fog...after it rained all night. And this is out the back door. Out the living room window it was grey and dreary...and still foggy. I was so confused! Not long after this the sun went away and the wind picked up. It blew the fog away, but it's been windy ever since.

Caught in the Act

Wow. Without even trying I caught a single droplet of water comng off that icicle. And it looks so perfectly round! It's beautiful! I'm just so surprised! Anyway, today it rained and then the sun came out and the temperature in the sun soared to close to 60, melting all the snow and ice we accumulated over the last 3 days or so. So all the trees and buildings were dripping, making it look like it was raining outside. Here's another picture to demonstrate:

Melted

All the snow is finally gone; it lasted much longer than I thought it would. Today I worked from home again in order to more easily watch Kayla, as Jason spent the day driving to and from Vancouver, Wash., for his grandfather's funeral. As I was walking across the dining room one time, I glanced outside and saw this tree, leaf-less, and covered with droplets of water that were sparkling in the rising sun. I grabbed my camera and after several tries, finally got one focused right.

Grey Skies

It was rainy today and the clouds were gorgeous. Here's what I saw on the way home this afternoon.

Lazy Day

Today we did nothing but be lazy. We slept in since we were up late for fireworks last night, and then we hung out in our PJs for a couple of hours. Finally, we washed and dressed ourselves, but went right back to being lazy - we read, played computer games, napped, ate some lunch, read some more, and ended the day with dinner and a movie. It was a stupid movie that just happened to be on TV - "Cruel Intentions" with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Reese Witherspoon. Basically, it's a teenage/high school sex movie. And it has a stupid ending. If you get the chance to watch this movie, pick something else.

There was also a storm today in La Grande. The wind came up (I heard 70 mph gusts) and it rained, though not terribly hard. There was plenty of lightning and thunder, though, which was awesome. Above is a photo of the sky after the biggest part of the storm had passed. Here is a shot Jason took of the sky as we were driving home this evening:

Brewing Up Some Storms

I love this time of year! The clouds are so awesome to watch - they're constantly changing, and they are very different from the clouds that appear any other time of year. During the winter the cloud is the sky. It's just one big gigantic cloud that doesn't lift for more than about a day at a time between November and February. The fall clouds are cold and very unfriendly, and just look ominous and aloof. Summer clouds...wait. Do we even HAVE clouds in the summer? Not often...but when we do, they're thunderheads, billowing on the horizon, looking majestic and powerful. Spring clouds, though...they're happy clouds. They're on vacation, watching the world come back to life and enjoying the flowers so much that sometimes they part to let the sun show them brighter, and other times noticing they need a little lift, and dumping some rain. I love this time of year!
