Surprise to Grow Into

I was home with Kayla again today, but this time it was because she was sick. She got a bad fever last night and has been miserable all day, poor girl! On the plus side she's been very cuddly! I went out to get the mail and when I opened the door there was a package from Jason's cousins. They sent us a ton of stuff when Kayla was first born, and this box was full of adorable little girl things, including this beautiful dress . Unfortunately, almost everything was size 18-24 months, so it will be a while before she can wear them. This dress is size 2T, so it will be hanging in her closet for another year and a half or so. The amazingly surprising thing about the clothes in this box? Almost every single thing still had tags on it. Brand new clothes. WOW! Thanks, Dave and Liz!

Hand-Me-Downs are Great!

Here's Kayla, modeling the adorable jean dress she got from MB and Chloe. Chloe never got to wear it because she outgrew it too quickly, so MB offered it to Kayla. I snatched it up since it's super cute and Kayla can always use another dress (she actually doesn't have a whole bunch that fit her right now), and she wore it for the first time to church today. Marci (who was visiting for the afternoon) actually took these pictures, while I attempted to get Kayla to stand up. Kayla was standing on her own for this picture (with a little help from the sofa behind her), but it didn't last long...

Clodhoppers

This morning we tried on the adorable new sandals that were in Kayla's Easter basket from Nana St. Clair. Though they were quite cute, they were also a bit too big. By the time it's warm enough to wear them without socks they'll probably fit her just right!

Hearts and Love and Stuff

Well, it's Valentine's Day. Ya know what we did? Nothing romantic, that's for sure! Kayla dressed for the occasion, though; this was one of the very first outfits I picked out for her after learning we were going to have a girl. We got it at Fred Meyer in Boise; Grandma Sevison bought it and it fit at the right time! The adorable onesie debuted today, the perfect day for it. The neck was made a little small (it was tight on Kayla and she's a small kiddo), so we left the top snap undone and folded the neck down a little. In this picture she's enjoying some quality time with Mommy and Daddy while they wait for lunch to be done. That yellowish blur is a piece of celery she'd been chewing on and had dropped right when I snapped the picture. She was very excited about Valentine's Day, as you can tell...

Little Lady

Kayla has recently outgrown a lot of PJs so this afternoon I went through a box and found some bigger sizes. This new pair of PJs makes me smile every time. I love the antennae on the feet! (So does Kayla, actually...and it's fun to watch her try and grab them.)

Nerd Modeling Show

Jason's pants have had holes in them for a while. I tried mending them, but the pockets are pulling away from the rest of the denim and it's difficult for my novice attempts to fix them. So they just got bigger and bigger until I told him he couldn't wear them in public anymore because it was indecent. So he decided they'd be work pants. He fixed them up as such and modeled them for me in the living room tonight. Lovely, Jason. You're still not wearing them in public.

In Perspective

Today I did Kayla's laundry and threw in a few of our clothing items. I've never washed our clothes with hers before, and when I was pulling them out of the dryer I was struck by how tiny her things are. The difference between her pants and ours really boggled my mind.

Pink

Ruth has been waiting for months for this onesie to fit Kayla. She bought it for her before she was born, and as it's a size 3-6 mo., it's taken a little while for Kayla to grow into it. Fortunately, it's a rather small 3-6 mo. size, so today, at 7 1/2 weeks, Kayla was able to fit into it. It's a tiny bit big, but in a couple of weeks it will almost be too small! Aunt Foofie and I are both against baby girls having entire wardrobes of pink and purple, though we agree SOMETHING has to be pink! They are girls, after all. Anyway, Aunt Foofie knows Kayla's mommy well! It's a fun onesie.

Since we are going to a birthday party on Friday evening we decided to give Kayla her bath tonight. We were also hoping it would calm her down, since she was being quite cranky. Last time we bathed her she enjoyed it so much she even smiled a couple of times. This time...she did NOT like it. She screamed so loud it hurt in that echo-y bathroom. So we made it a quick bath and as soon as we wrapped her in her little pink hooded towel she calmed down. I love holding her after she's gotten out of the bath. She's so little and warm and cuddly. One of these days she'll ruin the mood by peeing or pooping in her towel, but so far so good!
