Sister Sister

This morning Rachel, Ruth and I took advantage of the three of us being together with someone available to watch the kids and we went to coffee together. It was a lot of fun, and we took some great pictures. For instance:

The Dedication of Miss Kayla Sue

Today we had Kayla dedicated. For anyone reading this blog who isn't an Adventist, this is like our version of a baby christening or baptism. It is simply an event where the pastor of the church gives a short homily about raising a child in the way of Christ (or any variant of this topic he chooses), and a prayer is said. In our church, the pastor also takes the baby and walks up and down the church aisle to show everyone the new addition to their family. I had the good fortune of being able to be a part of the praise team that did music this week. Pictured above is Lara, Cheri, me, and Charley. Rachel was playing piano off to the right of this photo.

Here we are after the homily, having Pastor Ole pray for Kayla.

Lara played the special music while Pastor Ole walked Kayla up and down the aisle. It was fabulous!

A Day With Kayla

I took Kayla and ran some errands this morning. It was cold and windy so I put a hat on her. She is SO cute in a hat! While we were out she fell asleep, and though she woke up for part of our grocery shopping, she fell asleep again before we got back out to the car. She slept for about 3 hours total, including about an hour in her car seat after we got home.

Kayla was really enjoying playing with Grandpa this afternoon. She got comfy and he tickled and played with her feet and she just grinned away.

Tonight during dinner Kayla had a little...leakage. So I had to go change her outfit. Since we were going to be giving her a bath after we finished eating, I put an easy onesie on her. The only problem was that her feet were cold. So I grabbed something that would keep them warm: Some duck-feet-shaped slippers from her Great Grandma Anne. And then, of course, I HAD to put the matching hat on. Then I couldn't stop laughing. All of us had a good laugh at the dinner table when I brought her out.

This one makes it look as if she has a duck head. It makes me laugh. Hope you enjoy it!

Dog House & Storm Clouds

My dad came up yesterday. We're having Kayla dedicated on Sabbath and our families are coming into town for the occasion. Dad came early to do a project he wanted to do last time they were here but didn't get to, and Mom will be here tomorrow afternoon. Rachel and Ronnie and Morgan will arrive sometime Friday night. Jason's parents are coming up Sabbath morning just for the day. The project Dad did today was a dog house for Raina. It ended up being bigger than it probably needed to be, but Raina will have plenty of room to stay out of the rain and cold weather.

This is what the sky looked like this evening as the sun began to set. We had a cloudy day and the sky cleared and then more clouds moved in. They were beautiful and Jason came in and told me I needed to go take a picture. Good thing he did! It was a fantastic sky! I love this time of year.

Inheritance

Meet Calypso. He and his buddy, Zero, his black-hued twin, are going to be staying with Jason and I for the next 8 months. Ruth was officially accepted as a student missionary to Poland today, so I thought it was appropriate to post a photo of these little guys. When she heads to Europe, Jason and I will be taking care of her fish for her. Hopefully they will live to see her return!

Shots

Today was Kayla's two-month checkup. Which meant shots. Lots of them. She got poked four times and also received an oral immunization as well. She didn't like any of them. But before they gave her the shots they did the exam, and Kayla just laid on the table and cooed and smiled. It made me feel even worse because I knew she was going to be unhappy so soon following. She made it, though...and fell asleep before we made it back outside to the car!

Another Kitty

Tonight we went to Alex and Brittany's house to celebrate Britt's birthday. She's 24 today, and she had a fabulous dinner in honor of it. We had white "chicken" enchiladas, baked potatoes, bread with homemade jam, fresh veggies (tomatoes, cucumber, and carrots) with dip, and vanilla lemonade. For dessert we had apple slices with a DELICIOUS dip (cream cheese, brown sugar, and toffee bits), and fruit pizza. Above is a picture of Lance holding one of Alex and Britt's kittens. I think this one is Chamomile (known as Cammie), but I can't remember which one is which yet. They're both black and white and I've only seen them once before. If you'd like a laugh, here's what Lance's shirt says: "The time for action is past. Now is the time for senseless bickering."

Happy Birthday, Britt!
